The brand new MMU Business School
The Centre for Enterprise (CFE) within Manchester Metropolitan University Business School has established a new Special Interest Group for the Institute of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE) focused on understanding entrepreneurial learning within an organisational context. The group will explore factors influencing entrepreneurial learning, whether in SMEs or larger organisations.
The current governmental focus on growth assumes that SMEs will drive the economy forward; but how do business owners develop entrepreneurial skills to grow their companies? And in larger and in third sector organisations, how do managers develop entrepreneurial approaches to innovate in changing economic times?
CFE invite you to attend the first meeting of the group, on Monday 25th June from 10am-3pm, which will be a workshop at the brand new MMU Business School on Oxford Road, Manchester. The purpose of the day is to bring together academics and business leaders, as well as those who support businesses to learn, to reflect on areas of current and future research. The event will provide the opportunity to explore various areas of interest.
The programme includes special input from Professor David Rae from the University of Lincoln, and Professor Ossie Jones of the University of Liverpool, together with practitioner perspectives from John Leach of Winning Pitch, who are delivering the government’s coaching for growth agenda in the North. Jonathan Lawson will lead a panel of delegates from small firms and the event will be chaired by Professor Pauric McGowan from the University of Ulster.
The workshop costs £70 for ISBE members and £90 for non-members. Bookings should be made through the ISBE website.
Places are limited so please apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment!
