Ready for the challenge

No matter what you’re up against, you need to give yourself the best possible chance of success. This means that you need to do plenty of preparation to make sure that you’re ready for the task ahead. This will have the effect of building your self-confidence, while helping to maximise your performance.

Failing through lack of preparation can be very frustrating, because it not only delays your journey to realising your vision, but as you know you could have done better, it also throws up a number of“what if’s”, which can lead to regret and leave you demoralised.

What you’re aiming for is the ideal performing state – the point at which your mind is perfectly aligned to the task you need to undertake. It is vital that we get our mind and body into this state before we take on any challenging situations. All your actions will flow from your state of mind, so it is important to condition your thoughts to the outcome you want. By doing this, you programme yourself to deliver a highly tuned and positive performance.

Assessing your ideal performing state takes practice, and as you move towards your goals you will need to be constantly aware of the need to be in the zone. It may be an interview for a new job or promotion, a big pitch, a marathon run or a speech you have to deliver – whatever the challenge you must connect thought and action to get the best result.

Your ability to access the ideal performing state will increase your success rate. Keep practicing in the mind gym and watch yourself grow in confidence. Success will become habit!

“Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory.” - George S. Patton
